Frequently Asked Questions

What does LetzGo's Blarney Castle, Gardens and Village tour include?

LetzGo’s 2.5-hour Blarney tour includes entry to Blarney Castle and its extraordinary grounds. The experience covers the 15th-century castle itself — including the climb to the Battlements and the Blarney Stone — the Fern Gardens, Waterfall, Rock Close (a grove of ancient trees and standing stones with druidic associations), and the Blarney Village and Square. A visit to the traditional Blarney Woollen Mills, one of Ireland’s oldest craft retailers, is also included. Your local guide provides the history and legends of the Blarney estate throughout.

What is the Blarney Stone, and what happens when you kiss it?

The Blarney Stone is a block of Carboniferous limestone built into the battlements of Blarney Castle at a height of approximately 25 metres. Legend holds that anyone who kisses the stone receives the ‘Gift of the Gab’ — the ability to speak with great eloquence and persuasiveness. The tradition is said to have origins in a gift from the Queen of Munster to Cormac McCarthy, who built the castle in 1446. To kiss the stone, visitors lie on their back and lean over the battlement edge, held safely by a guide — a moment that is as memorable as it is unusual.

What is Rock Close at Blarney Castle, and is it included on LetzGo's tour?

Rock Close is a grove of ancient yew trees, standing stones and carved rock formations within the Blarney Castle grounds, long associated in local tradition with druidic ritual and fairy folk. The site includes the Druid’s Cave, the Witch’s Kitchen and the Wishing Steps, which legend holds will grant a wish if descended backwards with eyes closed while thinking of a wish. LetzGo’s tour includes Rock Close as part of the guided Blarney Castle grounds experience, and the guide provides the folklore and history of each feature.

What is the cancellation and rescheduling policy?

We offer free cancellation and free rescheduling on all bookings made more than 24 hours before your scheduled tour departure time. If your plans change, simply contact us as early as possible and we will rebook you onto another available date at no additional charge.

Cancellations or changes requested less than 24 hours before departure are not possible, and the booking will be treated as non-refundable. This policy exists because our tours operate with a limited number of guests, and last-minute cancellations prevent us from offering the spot to other travellers.

We strongly recommend booking in advance to secure your preferred date, particularly during peak travel seasons (June to September) when availability fills quickly. If you are booking for a group, please contact us directly before completing your booking so we can advise on availability and any group-specific arrangements.

Is this tour accessible for guests with reduced mobility or physical limitations?

We want to be transparent about this so that every guest can make an informed decision before booking. This tour is not currently recommended for guests using wheelchairs, motorised scooters or other mobility assistance devices. The tour route includes a significant amount of walking and covers surfaces that can be challenging, including cobblestones, hills, inclines, declines and stairs across both venues.

Strollers and baby carriages cannot be accommodated on this tour.

We also ask that all participants be in good general health. If you have a medical condition or are not accustomed to regular exercise, we recommend consulting your doctor before booking.

If you have specific mobility concerns and are unsure whether this tour is right for you, please contact us before booking — we will always advise honestly based on your situation, and we can explore whether alternative tour options or arrangements may be more suitable.
